Why is frozen chicken so buoyant? It seems whenever I try to defrost chicken in a sink of warm water, it always floats to the top. It's so frustrating. Oh well, I guess it's just part of life, floating frozen chicken. What can you do?
Think of frozen chicken as a giant ice cube~ when it defrosts, it'll sink :) I've found that putting one of those things you put hot things on (mine is black and really heavy) keeps it under for a while. I'm sorry about the chicken.... stupid bird!
I put my chicken breasts in a freezer ziplock bag and fill it all the way up with hot water and zip it up....Then set it on the counter. that way it doesn't matter if it floats, and you don't have to take up your kitchen sink! DOUBLE BONUS!!
4-6 chicken breasts, thawed
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
6 slices swiss cheese
splash of milk
1 tube of Ritz crackers, crushed
2 tbs butter, melted
Mix together in bowl the soup and sour cream. Add enough milk to make mixture smooth. Place chicken breasts in baking dish sprayed with non-stick spray. Layer cheese over chicken. Spread soup mixture over cheese. Mix melted butter and crackers together and sprinkle on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40-45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice and veggies!
Jalapeno Chicken Casserole
4 chicken breasts
1 can Cream of Chicken soup
3/4 Cup Sour Cream
1 Cup Mayonnaise
1/2 of SMALL can of jalapenos (it doesn't seem like enough... but trust me, any more than that and you'll feel it for days!!)Shredded Cheddar cheese
1 bag of wide egg noodles
Regular potato chips
Cube chicken breasts and cook in pan with a little olive oil until no longer pink. Meanwhile mix soup, sour cream, mayonnaise and jalapenos together in a large bowl. Cook noodles until done. When chicken and noodles are done mix into bowl of sauce. Spray bottom of 13 x 9 pan and put mixture into pan. Top with cheese and sprinkle potato chips on top. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 - 30 minutes.
Meat Ring (not loaf)
1 1/2 lb ground beef
3/4 Cup oatmeal or cracker crumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 tsp pepper
1 beaten egg
3/4 cup milk
Sauce
1/3 cup ketchup (fancy is best)
2 Tbs brown sugar
1 Tbs mustard
Mix first 6 ingredients all together and mold into round pan leaving a hole in the center. Cover with sauce and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees
Yummy Meatball Subs
Frozen Meatballs (The kind at Costco are GREAT!!)
32 oz ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1 can COKE (must be a can, not a bottle!)
Mix together and slow cook in crock-pot until meatballs are hot through (about 3-4 hours). Stir occasionally. Serve on Hoagie buns. Top with mozzarella cheese if desired.

That is hilarious! So long as it thaws, I don't really care if it floats or not. I just flip it. :)
