Zoo Day

So we decided it would be fun to go to the Hogle Zoo as a family. So, even though the weather was less than ideal, we packed up and went. It turned out not too bad, it only sprinkled for a few minutes and it wasn't too hot until right before we left it got sunny and pretty warm. Dad rented one of those motorized scooters to help get him around without having to have one of us push him around the zoo. Hailey, my niece, loved it. However, the cougar did not. The moment we pulled up to her she started hissing and getting all upset. One of the videos here shows her hissing at Dad. Hailey got to ride on the Carousel. She loved it, threw a little fit when she couldn't stay on it. Typical toddler! We got to see all of the animals we wanted to see. On the way up to the zoo, Hailey was getting pretty fussy because she was done riding in her car seat, so to distract her, me, Katrina and Anthony all sang fun songs. Everything from BINGO to a lovely rendition of The Song That Never Ends. It was pretty entertaining! She loved it though and she forgot all about being stuck in her car seat for another half hour.

Imagine

Imagine is a tribute band to the Beatles. A friend invited my mom and I to come to a concert at the Scera Shell Outdoor Theatre. It was pretty entertaining. You know how there's always some crazy ladies who hoop and holler and act all sorts of crazy at concerts, that was my momma and her buddy! There was even talk of bra throwing.... actually THAT was my idea. Of course it didn't really happen, but we still had lots of fun!

Don't throw out your hip, Mom!

Sunflowers anyone?

So randomly in our garden this sunflower monstrosity has emerged from nowhere. It started out as a little sprout that turned into a Amazonic tree! Here are some pictures to prove how big it is. We eventually had to trim it down because it attracted the bees and because so many of us are allergic to bees. But I was pretty excited because I LOVE sunflowers. So it made me happy.

My Brother's Birthday

August 29 was my brother's birthday. The day before I realized I hadn't gotten him a gift yet and was pretty much clueless to what to get him. So I went directly to the source and called him up and asked what he wanted for his birthday. Ellis told me several ideas, one being "golf shirts" because he has been into golf lately. If you don't know him, Ellis has always been the type to wear all black and baggy clothes with chains and the like, so this might be surprising to some of you. I asked him what he meant by "golf shirts" specifically and he proceeded to tell me "you know polo shirts and stuff." So I clarified this, asked him if I bought an entire outfit from head to toe "preppy style" he'd totally wear it. He said yes. You can just imagine my delight at this news. I headed straight to the store and bought two polo shirts, plaid shorts and tan shoes. He loved it. In fact right after he opened it he went and changed into them immediately.

Swiss Days

Over Labor Day weekend I went to Swiss days with my mom and friend Tina. It was awesome! Lots and lots of boothes and fun stuff to look at. My friend Jill and her mom and sister have a little business they do where they make purses and blankets, etc. and they had a booth there! So, I got a couple purses that are oh-so-cute. We wanted to have Swiss (aka Navajo) tacos but the line for had about a thousand people in it so we settled for a Swiss Burger. It was alright. But over all it was a great time! Thanks Tina for inviting us along!
